Denver Florists, Valentines Day drinks, drink recipes

Need a new drink for Valentine's Day ( or any other day ). Try this one and let us know what you think

SINGLE LADIES LOVE PUNCH

ingredients:

lillet rose
blood orange soda
sparkling wine (i used Sofia Blanc de Blancs, mostly cause sofia coppola rules!)
rosemary syrup (recipe below)
pink grapefruit juice
and for garnishes . . .
lemon wedges
lime wedges
maraschino cherries
and rosemary sprigs

what you’ll need:
for the syrup:
- 2 cups of filtered water
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary
and the rest:
- 1 oz vodka
- juice of one lemon
- club soda
- honey syrup (which you should have left over from the honey badger.  it’s basically honey and water)
what to do:
- first off, you need to make the rosemary syrup.  prepare to impress anyone within a ten mile radius, because not only is rosemary syrup glamorous, but it also smells fantastic.
- bring water and sugar to a slow boil.  reduce heat, add rosemary sprigs and simmer for ten minutes.
- let cool strain out rosemary sprigs and transfer mixture to a clean glass container
then:
- fill a fancy high ball glass with a few ice cubes
- add vodka
- the juice of one lemon
- 1 oz of the rosemary syrup
- and 2 tablespoons (or a very generous splash) of the honey syurp.
note: if you don’t have honey syrup, it’s ok. your drink will still taste amazing.
- stir ingredients and then top off with club soda.

Denver Florists, Valentine's Day, single girls Valentines Day ideas, Single girls guide to Valentine's Day

Single this Valentine's Day? it's ok, you don't have to be in a relationship to enjoy Valentine's Day

1. Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you’re alone! Round up some unattached chicks and hit the bars, a restaurant, the local karaoke joint, the bowling lanes, whatever. Revel in your ability to have an amazing time, no men needed. —Katriona, 30

2. Whether it’s George Clooney or Johnny Depp, spend the night with your ultimate celeb crush. Rent a handful of his movies and treat yourself to an eye-candy marathon. —Jillian, 22

3. Organize a Secret Admirers gifting sesh, à la Secret Santa: You and a group of friends draw names and then deliver items like chocolates, flowers, and teddy bears to each other. That way everyone can have a Valentine... —Mary, 23

4. Since you aren’t spending your dough on some dude, might as well spend it on yourself. Give yourself some credit for how amazing you are and treat yourself to something special like a mani-pedi, a new necklace, or a blow-out at the salon. —Aubrey, 27

5. Ask a guy friend out for a platonic date and split a meal at a tasty restaurant. Make a game out of your dinner discussion by looking around the restaurant at all the couples (there will be a ton!) and guessing which ones will actually last, based on their body language. —Karen, 24

6. Be a rebel and convince your co-worker bestie to play hooky with you. Instead of sitting in meetings or watching other chicks get flowers delivered to their cubes, you and your pal can go shopping, take a day trip somewhere fun (like skiing!), or catch a new chick flick, sans the crowded theater. —Julie, 25

7. Party at your place! Invite friends over for wine, appetizers, gossiping, and good times. To mix it up, make it a theme party, like suggesting that everyone wear all pink (or black, if you caught the “Singles Awareness Day” bug) and create an iPod playlist with songs like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Holding Out for a Hero.” —Lauren, 21
8. Go out for brunch - "gather the girls for brunch at your favorite restaurant" - Jill 34

Throw a single girls only party or get-together

1. Smaller is better

When planning your Valentine's Day girlfriend get-together remember that smaller groups are better. "I recommend keeping the total headcount at four to six people. Hosting the party in someone's home is personable and makes it easier to socialize," says Pedersen. "I also love using Paperless post invitations
www.paperlesspost.com. They're more special than a phone call but not as time-consuming as snail mail invites."

2. Plan an activity

Plan an activity to keep guests entertained. Wine tasting is always popular. "Ask your friends to each bring a bottle that's under $10."  "Do a blind taste tests and have everyone vote for their favorite. Give the winner something simple like a piece of cute and inexpensive jewelry." Or, host a jewelry party, like the ones from Silpada www.silpada.com. Spa parties can be a fun bonding experience, too, and the same goes for cooking parties. Bring in a chef to teach the group how to make a signature dish.

3. Go guilt-free

Have foods that your girlfriends can enjoy guilt-free. "As women, we feel better about ourselves when we don't eat junk. Keep the menu light and in line with a certain type of cuisine — Mexican, Italian or maybe even a salad bar". Then everyone can bring one dish to contribute. Having one or two sweet treats is never a bad thing; just make sure to mix in healthy choices." Give your guests options they'll feel good eating.

4. Get girly

"A Valentine's Day party is the perfect excuse to get ultra girly". "Have fun with flowers, sparkles and pink and red. Use your good platters and dinnerware. Serve sparkling water, bubbly and gourmet chocolates." As women, we appreciate these small touches. Oh, and speaking of women — this is a girl's night out so please leave the men at home.

5. Flowers

"Fill a glass hurricane with beautiful fresh flowers and tie a 3- or 4-inch ribbon around it for an easy but stylish centerpiece. And remember — everything looks pretty on table linen." Set up candles and flowers on a nice table runner for added effect.

6. Have a purpose

The only thing better than a party is a party with a purpose. "February is Heart Disease Awareness Month so use your Valentine's Day girlfriend get-together as a way to spread the word on heart health". "Tie together the theme with red balloons and a red dress code and serve a menu of heart-healthy foods."

7. Have favors

Is any party really complete without the favors? You don't have to spend a lot of money on parting gifts. "Wrap a glass votive in fancy paper or give each of your girls a journal with personalized handwritten notes on the inside cover," she explains. "Little trinkets like blush brushes or lip gloss always go over well."

8.  Make a special Drink

Denver Florists, tips for picking bridesmaids, how to pick your bridesmaids, how to pick bridal parties

Bridesmaids: 9 Tips for Who to Pick

Having trouble deciding who will stand up for you on the big day?

Follow our how-to-choose guide.

Stressing over which friends and/or relatives will be bridesmaids? Choosing the bridal party is no laughing matter. Scan these deciding factors, and the selection process will be a breeze.

1...How Many Maids?

One of the first things to consider when selecting your bridal party is how many guests you're planning to invite. While bridal parties can range anywhere from a single maid/matron of honor to more than a dozen attendants, most wedding experts agree that a good rule of thumb is to have one groomsman and one corresponding bridesmaid for every 50 guests. (This doesn't mean, though, that you have to go ask a stranger to be in your wedding just because your fiance has one more attendant than you do. Life will go on if you have uneven numbers of groomsmen and bridesmaids.) Also, a large wedding party traditionally signifies a formal wedding. So if you're planning a small, intimate gathering, ten bridesmaids might be a bit too much.

2.....More isn't Merrier

Speaking of size, remember that the more bridesmaids you have, the greater the potential for complications. In other words, you'll need to get more people to agree on a dress or decide on a bridal shower date. And if you're on a limited budget, think about who has to pay for all those bridesmaids bouquets. That's right -- you.

3....Blood is Thicker Than Water

If you're close to your sister or future sister-in-law, the thought of not including them in your wedding party probably never even occurred to you. But if you suffer from a serious Jan Brady complex, the thought of asking your sister (or sister-in-law) to be a bridesmaid probably ranks right up there with getting a football in the nose. Still, it's usually worth including family members just to avoid unnecessary conflict. Think of it as having more bargaining power when you're battling with your mom over the guest list.

5....No Backsies

You don't need to ask someone to be in your wedding just because she asked you to be in her wedding. Don't ask the college roommate you haven't spoken to in five years just to return the favor. Weddings are no time for quid pro quo. Period.

6....Don't Assume

Try not to make hasty assumptions. Don't write off some friends simply because you think they don't have enough money to afford that Vera Wang bridesmaid dress ( www.verawang.com ) you have your eye on. If you want to ask a friend whom you know is having financial difficulties, you can always say something like, "I'd love for you to be a bridesmaid, but I understand the tough time you're going through now. If you can't do it, I'd love to find something else for you to do in the wedding." (Or, you can offer to pay her way if you can't stand the idea of her not being in the wedding.)

7....Guys Count

A bridesmaid doesn't have to be a woman. Despite the prevalence of feminine pronouns in this guide, if your best friend is a guy, there's no reason why he can't be in your wedding. Today, many brides (and grooms) are including members of the opposite sex as attendants. In these cases, a man on the bride's side is simply called an attendant or bridesman, while a woman on the groom's side can be called an attendant or a groomswoman.

8....Other Honors

Still stuck? Keep in mind that there are plenty of other roles good friends can play in your wedding if they don't make the cut -- do a reading, hand out programs, or perform a song.

9....Spread the News

Once you make up your mind about your bridesmaids, you'll want to get the word out. The only thing worse than a coworker who thinks she's invited to your wedding is a friend who assumes she's going to be a bridesmaid. If you're afraid of hurting someone's feelings, remember that, as cliched as it sounds, any true friend will understand whatever decision you ultimately make. And finally, the sooner you make your decision, the sooner you get to check off one more box on your endless wedding checklist.

Put Everything on the Table

Before tying the knot, reveal what savings you have and what you owe. This will help you set a budget for your wedding and plan for life as newlyweds. Legally, someone doesn't marry into debt, so you will not be held accountable for whatever outstanding amounts your spouse already owes. But if such an obligation exists, it may make you think twice about throwing your fantasy wedding.

Pay off Your Wedding ASAP

Do everything you can to not incur any debt for your wedding.  I know a lot of couples do. If you must borrow, don't exceed what you can reasonably expect to pay off in three to six months' time; people drag it out for years, and it gets in the way of how you build your life together. Small goals, like taking vacations, or big ones, like having kids and buying a house, often get pushed aside.

Creatively Cut Big-Day Costs

Examine your guest list and decide how many people you really need to invite. If the answer is "everyone," you can alter the day of the week -- a weekday wedding will always be cheaper than a Saturday one -- or do a cocktail reception with hearty hors d'oeuvres and dessert instead of a three-course dinner. Also, consider a pre-owned dress. There are may ways that offer secondhand options.

Don't Reject a Pre-nup

If one of you has significant assets, a prenuptial agreement should absolutely be open for discussion. Young people who are just starting out can probably go without one. But if a person has been married before, has started a business, has kids, or is expecting a large inheritance, he/she should sign a contract. Three-quarters of attorneys surveyed in 2010 by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers said they had seen a significant increase in pre-nups in recent years. It's just what we do now.

Open Three Accounts

Once married, keep separate funds for you, for your spouse, and for "the house," or your joint expenses. The house fund gets taken care of first, and what's left over goes into the individual accounts for you to spend however you like.

Be Honest About Your Credit

In survey after survey, people list money as the top reason they fight -- and they confess they hide financial information about themselves from their spouse. Why? Because they're embarrassed. It's not always easy to admit you haven't yet opened a 401(k) or that you got into credit-card trouble while in college. Just remember that this is the person you love and are about to marry. You should be able to talk about anything.

Make Plans In Advance

Financial conversations don't have to be a chore. In fact, it can be romantic when you dream about the future: Where will we live? How many kids do we want? When can we afford to take a vacation to Italy? Figuring that stuff out now gives you goals to work toward -- together.

Pay High-Interest Debts First

Look at the interest on any debt: If it 's high, pay more than the monthly minimums with any extra money you have. Otherwise, split the difference: Put half of that surplus to savings and the other half toward debt. But if it's the interest on your savings that is high -- for example, if your employer matches 401(k) contributions with 50 cents on the dollar and the interest on your debt is low -- you can shift more toward savings. Ideally, if both of you can sock away 10 percent of your paychecks each month, you're off to a great start.
