Denver Florists, Wedding Invitation Ideas

Wedding Invitation Ideas

Need an idea for wedding invitations?

Proof that classic doesn't have to mean conventional: Mrs. John L. Strong hand-engraved "bespoke" stationery suite features a French fold, in which a sheet of paper is creased vertically and then folded horizontally. In the 18th and 19th centuries the formal technique was typical of invitations, but today it's an elegant and uncommon choice. Another unexpected old-school touch is the sweet motif of clasped hands embossed on the front.

Denver Florists, Wedding Hair Accessories

Wedding Hair accesories.

What's the newest trend in wedding accessories? Hair pieces. Suttle, classy and stylish is the way to go, take a look at these and let us know what you think.

The smallest details can make the biggest impact; just take these elegant accessories. Thoughtfully placed, they'll accent your style's best asset -- be it graceful twists or soft texture -- with ease.
Picture #1, a headband tames frizz and flyaways and adds polish to a topknot. Jenny Packham's couture piece works the ombre trend, with hundreds of bugle beads gradating ( passing from one shade or tone to another ) from silver to champagne.

Picture #2 - Floral Comb

Relaxed updos become a touch more formal -- and far more secure -- when anchored with refined combs, like this organza-flower- and- feather one from Bride's Head Revisited
Picture #3 - Bobby Pin Baubles

Twigs and Honey 's made-to-order rhinestone-and-crystal "Sweet Pea" silver-plated bobby pins are a novel way to tuck back bangs or spotlight the curves of an elegant chignon.

Picture # - 5Crowning Clip

This rhinestone-and-silver beauty doesn't just hide the pins keeping a half-up, half-down style in place; it also draws attention to the hair's tousled waves. We like   Tessa Kim's "Alicia" headpiece.

Picture #5 - Florals

This is a sample of a floral hairpice we did here at our shop, if you don't care for the mass produced items bought in a store opt for a unique one of a kind piece designed by us. You can always preserve it after the wedding and have a special keepsake also.  www.thetwistedtulip.com

Denver Florists, Bridal Shower Tip

Just a tip on Picking a Date

A shower is usually held two to four months before you get married. Any closer to the big day, and you’ll be too busy with last-minute details to enjoy yourself. And it's too much to ask guests to buy multiple presents in a short time span.
Although it may be difficult to pick a date when everyone is available, it's best to plan around a holiday (religious or nonreligious) if you're inviting out-of-towners, and they'll be more likely to make the trip. But if most guests are local, evenings are a good option, too. If your planning a big shower with alot of attendees, don't beat yourself up too much, you'll have to accept that it may not be possible to find a date where everyone is available. Do the best you can with the majority and realize that it's up to them to make the effort to be there and share the experience with the people they care about. Once a date is set, invites should go out a month to six weeks in advance.

Denver Florists, Recipe with Red Wine

Do you have an event or a get-together and need a great recipe? Try this one and let us know what you think.
RED WINE POACHED PLUM TARTLETS

Ingredients

All-purpose flour, for surface
Pate Sucree ( SEE RECIPE BELOW, at end )
1 cup fruity red wine, such as Beaujolais or pinot noir
3 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 bay leaf
Pinch fine salt
8 red plums, sliced 1/4-inch thick
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On a lightly floured surface, roll out pate sucree into 1/8-inch-thick discs. Cut each disc into 16 four-inch rounds and fit into 3-inch fluted tartlet tins. Pierce bottoms with the tines of a fork. Freeze for 15 minutes.

2.Line each shell with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove weights and parchment. Return to oven, and bake until bottoms are just turning golden, about 5 minutes more. Transfer to wire racks; let cool for 5 minutes. Remove shells from tin; let cool completely.

3.Bring wine, water, sugar, bay leaf, and a pinch of salt to a boil in a medium-size pan, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to barely a simmer and add plums. Poach plums in batches for about 5 minutes, or until tender but still holding their shape. Remove from pan with a slotted spoon and place on a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet; let cool. Remove skins from plums and arrange six or seven slices in each shell.

4.Discard all but 1 cup of the poaching liquid and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Combine the cornstarch and orange juice and whisk into poaching liquid. Cook, stirring constantly, until translucent, about 3 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes, and then brush over the top of each tart. Serve immediately.

Can't find Pate Sucree at the store? here's a recipe

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, chilled, and cut into small pieces
2 large egg yolks
1/4 cup ice water

Directions

1.In the bowl of a food processor, pulse flour and sugar together for a few seconds to combine. Add butter to the flour mixture, and process until mixture resembles coarse meal, about 20 seconds. In a small bowl, lightly beat egg yolks and ice water until combined. With machine running, pour egg mixture in a slow, steady stream through feed tube. Pulse just until dough holds together, no more than 30 seconds.

2.Divide dough into two balls. Flatten each into a disc and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.

Lauren Moffat Wedding Nails

It's Fashion Week here Cherry Creek and in New York City and for the next couple of days, We'll be sharing some of our favorite makeup, hair, and nail looks from backstage.

First up, designer  Lauren Moffat and her oh-so-sweet nails. With two coats of OPI's Don't Touch My Tutu as a base (it would also look pretty all by itself), the artists painted diagonal caps on each nail in either bright orange or a mix of yellow and green (which blended to a super-chic mustard hue). The mod colors looked so cool and would be cute for a retro-style wedding.

Like it? I'm kind of digging the olive green polish and would honestly wear it alone on short, round nails.
